The challenge

Lancashire Fire and Rescue service to the one-and-a-half million people living or working in Lancashire. Operating from thirty-nine fire stations across the county, they provide services every hour of the day, every day of the year.

A new website was required that adhered to the latest accessibility best practice standards for the public sector (specifically international WCAG 2.1 AA). The website also needed to:

  • Provide visitors with an intuitive way to find relevant content on desktop, tablet or mobile
  • Provide visitors with a new way to report fire safety concerns
  • Provide the team with a simple way to make updates

Strategy

Working in collaboration with the executive and marketing team we undertook a thorough discovery process to understand the organisational needs and audience personas.

We defined a clear value proposition and user journey mapping before wire framing and designing a website that that aligns with the organisations brand identity. Enhanced design, colour and iconography, along with dynamic elements, bring the site to life with a seamless user experience.

The website is designed to meet the highest accessibility standards for the public sector, public sector (specifically international WCAG 2.1 AA, and has a range of useful features, including a filtered latest incident alert.
