Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has a commitment to reduce emissions in the borough and achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
Following a competitive pitch, Hotfoot was appointed to work with a People’s Jury of 26 diverse residents and the BwD comms team to create a compelling multi-channel behaviour change campaign, educating residents on small ways they can save energy and reduce emissions in their daily lives. We focused on one small, yet impactful action – turning the heating down by just 1℃ could save residents up to £100 a year on their energy bills.
Our ‘One Degree Challenge’ campaign resulted in 90% of surveyed residents pledging to nudge down their heating by 1℃, and 68% wanting to learn more energy saving tips.
The campaign has been short-listed in the ‘Creative for Good – Positive Impact’ category at the Prolific North Creative Awards 2024.
