When the COVID-19 outbreak began to ease, the people and businesses of Keswick were put in an impossible situation, having to strike the right balance between keeping themselves safe and welcoming visitors back to support the local economy that relies so heavily on tourism.
We’ve been working with Keswick Tourism for years, so we were delighted when they asked us to create a social media campaign to deliver the difficult message that, while the people of Keswick were pleased to be welcoming tourists back to the town, it was paramount that they followed the guidelines of individual businesses and respected Keswick and its residents.
In response, we created the Come Back To Keswick campaign, where we presented Keswick-based businesses with some questions about their new regulations and what they were most looking forward to when visitors returned to the town. Northern Lights Gallery provided excellent imagery and the campaign has had a brilliant response from both locals and tourists.

We have been absolutely delighted with the success of the Come Back To Keswick campaign and the positive engagement that has come from it. We started talking to Hotfoot about a post-lockdown campaign back in May and overall it has been an incredibly smooth process.
Having so many of our members involved in the campaign has definitely been the key to its success. The next step will be to work on extending the season into the winter months.
