What the Hotties are Listening to: Georgia, Digital Marketing Executive

Posted on by

Listening to music can increase motivation, reduce stress and promote a more positive mindset. Many of the team members at Hotfoot listen to music as part of their daily routine, and we thought delving into their playlists would be a great way to get to know more about them. We caught up with a few of the Hotties to hear about their current earworms, their favourite artists and the tunes that help them focus.

Today we’re taking a closer look at the listening habits of our Digital Marketing Executive, Georgia, who warns that her music taste may result in a headache. She shares her favourite artists, albums and even takes us on a trip to the West End.

Some of Georgia’s top picks…

Ricky Montgomery

‘My absolute favourite singer-songwriter and who I always go to no matter what mood I’m in. His songs are really popular on TikTok, which is where his popularity grew, particularly among the anime community.’

Top 5 Songs:

Line Without A Hook
Talk To You
Mr Loverman
This December
Last Night

Set It Off

‘These guys are one of my favourite bands. I love the pop punk genre and every Set It Off release ends up stuck in my head at some point or another! They’re a great listen for when I really need to get my head down and focus.’

Top 5 Songs:

The Haunting
Fake Ass Friends
Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
Win Win (feat. Scene Queen)
Third Wheel

MARINA

‘I’m absolutely obsessed with her and her music. She’s definitely one of the artists I listen to most and one I seem to always be in the mood for. I also think she’s criminally underrated and an amazing performer – I’d love to see her live!’

Top 5 Songs:

How To Be A Heartbreaker
Are You Satisfied
Oh No
Hermit The Frog
E.V.O.L

McFly

‘I’ve been a lover of McFly since I was a child, and the love hasn’t faded! Their music has always had a fun, cheeky side to it and is the perfect balance of pop and rock that never fails to put a smile on my face.’

Top 5 Songs:

Room on the Third Floor
Transylvania
All About You
One For The Radio
God Of Rock & Roll

Scouting for Girls

‘They always give me such happy, nostalgic vibes! Their songs are all super catchy and, similar to McFly, have a cheekiness to them that’s impossible to resist. I even have a personalised video message from the lead singer that my dad was able to film when he met them at Kendal Calling in 2023.’

Top 5 Songs:

Posh Girls
Bad Superman
The Trouble With Boys
This Ain’t A Love Song
I Wish I Was James Bond

Hazbin Hotel

‘This is by far the weirdest one on the list. Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated TV series. The pilot was first uploaded on YouTube in 2019, but the full first season of the show premiered in early 2024 and has since exploded in popularity. One of the reasons it’s had such a high level of interest is the fact the songs are ridiculously catchy. When I first listened to the album, I was totally hooked and ended up hyperfixating on the show for months. The whole soundtrack really scratches the ex-theatre-kid part of my brain and will 100% be taking over my Spotify Wrapped this year, it’s just a matter of guessing which of the main culprits will come out on top.

My bets are on Poison as I took it upon myself (like a big nerd) to learn the dance for an on-stage performance at a convention.’

Musical Theatre

‘I’m a HUGE musical theatre nerd and was even part of an amateur acting group during my teen years, so I can (very) often be caught listening to various show tunes. I could ramble on about different shows all day, but I’ve limited myself to my top 5.’

Death Note: The Musical

‘This one means a lot to me. It’s a musical based on the popular manga/anime series which is by far my favourite thing in the world (something my friends and family can confirm as it’s rare I go a day without mentioning it in some way). I was lucky enough to see the English-speaking premiere on the West End in 2023 (twice) and met the book writer, director and cast. Legend says there are videos of me sobbing in the depths of a phone somewhere, but that’s for another time…

The cast recording is currently in production, but there was an English concept album recorded in 2014. Hurricane is one of the most beautifully written and performed songs (though they’re all fabulous in my eyes!)’

Little Shop of Horrors

‘Every few months I go through an obsessive phase with this musical. My first introduction to it was when I went to watch my secondary school’s production of it and it’s been one of my favourites ever since. There have been so many fantastic productions of the show, including a spectacular rendition of Dentist! by one of my favourite musical stars, Christian Borle.’

Bonnie & Clyde

‘The story of the notorious American bandits, in musical form. It was written and composed by the two guys who worked on the Death Note musical, which is how I discovered it, and truly fell in love when I saw the wonderful production at The Dukes in Lancaster. The standout song for me has to be Raise a Little Hell.

Beetlejuice The Musical

Beetlejuice is one of my favourite films, and the musical is equally as fun, hilarious and chaotic. This is the only one on the list I haven’t actually watched in person as it’s yet to premiere in the UK, but it’s definitely on the bucket list! Say My Name is a great song that perfectly captures the vibe of the film and musical.

Billy Elliot: The Musical

‘The first time I saw this musical was on a school trip where the teacher ended up horrified at the amount of foul language used (far too much for a bunch of 12-year-olds!) I absolutely adored the whole show, from the incredible dance numbers to the amazing songs written by Elton John, and continue to do so today! Electricity is a truly beautiful song, and one that never fails to tug at the heartstrings!’
